Equal Bangladesh film selected at prestigious national film festival

Equal Bangladesh’s short film ‘Jyoti’s story of illuminating horizons’ has been officially selected for the Bangladesh Short Film and Documentary Festival.

Organised by the Bangladesh Ministry of Cultural Affairs, the annual film festival screened the film on Saturday 31 May at the National Arts (Shilpakala) Academy in the country’s capital city, Dhaka.

The documentary captures the powerful journey of Kabery Sultana Jyoti, a young person with cerebral palsy and an Equal Bangladesh youth champion. Her story is filled with resilience and hope and illustrates the transformative power of inclusive education and community support.

During the festival, audiences from all 64 districts across the country watched the film simultaneously. They responded with heartfelt praise and resonated with the film’s central message: when society creates an enabling environment, people with disabilities can truly thrive. This national recognition is a significant step forward for inclusive storytelling in Bangladesh.
