According to a recent population survey, an estimated 1.5 per cent of the total population of Guinea lives with a disability (although this is likely to be a conservative number as data on disability is limited, and the global percentage of disability is estimated at 15 per cent).
What we’re calling for
In 2018, the government of Guinea agreed a decree to protect people with disabilities, but progress on putting it into action has been slow, and many people with disabilities in the country have yet to see it make a difference in their lives. If effectively put into practice, it would guarantee equal opportunities for people with disabilities and promote their social and professional integration, so they could participate fully in society.
