Cameroon

The situation

In Cameroon, there are an estimated 2.9 million people living with a disability. They are significantly less likely than their peers to be in school, have jobs or participate in political life. The presence and effective participation of people with disabilities is the only way to ensure that they will not be forgotten – it’s essential that they have a voice in the decisions that affect their lives.

What we’re calling for

We want to insist on the participation of people with disabilities at all levels of decision-making. In view of the government’s political will to make inclusion a reality, we want to highlight the need to make the provisions of the recent decree effective.

What we want

We are campaigning for the government of Cameroon to fully implement the national law on the protection and promotion of persons with disabilities and its decree.
